A CCJ also known as a County Court Judgment is given when someone takes you to court (normally for a debt of some kind) and have won their claim. This means that you legally owe the debt and the claimant can escalate to High Court Enforcement Officers/Bailiffs who can enforce the debt against you.
A CCJ can also affect your ability to take out mortgages, car finance, credit cards and rental properties in some instances.
If you have received judgment against you, you re given one month to pay the amount owed, if this is done within the one month time frame the CCJ will be removed from your record.
Where no payment is made within one month of the date of judgment the CCJ is entered and remains on your record for 6 years,(5 years in Scotland).
We understand the whole process can be a stressful and anxious one but we are well experienced in assisting and supporting our clients from start to finish.
